Is EMSzero Legit or Scam? Read this if comparing EMSzero vs. EMSculpt

In the constantly changing landscape of non-invasive aesthetic solutions, the debate between EMSculpt vs. EMSzero has been a topic of intense discussion.

As a leading provider of innovative beauty technologies, MShape Beauty has been at the forefront of this conversation, offering insights and guidance to help individuals make informed decisions. In this blog post, we'll delve into the world of EMSzero and explore whether it can be trusted as a viable alternative to the well-established EMSculpt.

Typically these discussions are centered around topics like power output and Tesla rating or number of contractions per 30 minute session, etc.

But with the recent news out of Guangzhou, China, last week announcing that the owner of the EMSzero factory had been sent to jail for illegally manufacturing and selling another type of radio frequency machine with the trademark “Thermage”, the debate is beginning to get more interesting.

(You can read more about some of the EMSzero Lawsuits mentioned below on the public government website, but you need to log as a Chinese citizen.)

Previously, we only questioned the reliability of EMSzero's specifications and quality.   But now, we question their trustworthiness altogether!

MShape Beauty took this recent jailing of EMSzero boss quite seriously and decided to investigate - is EMSzero legit?   What other mischief has this company has been up to over the years?  Read on to learn more, not only about the technology differences between EMSculpt and EMSzero, but also about the shady criminal background of the EMSzero company.

The Rise of EMSzero

Around 2019, EMSzero had emerged as a newer player in the non-invasive body contouring market, promising to deliver similar results to EMSculpt without the need for expensive equipment or specialized training. The technology behind EMSzero claims to also use high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to target and tone specific muscle groups, leading to a more sculpted and toned appearance. But ….we are not really sure.  Why are we not sure?  The factory is strangely closed to the public.  That’s right, no visitors allowed!  Even if you buy $1 million of machines, they won’t let you in to visit the factory.  We will see later why this closed door policy makes sense.

One of the key selling points of EMSzero is its accessibility (easy to buy on eBay, Aliexpress, etc) and affordability (it’s pretty cheap).

Unlike EMSculpt, which requires a significant financial investment in specialized equipment and trained professionals for operation, EMSzero can be used at home. This has made it an attractive option for individuals who are looking for a more budget-friendly solution to their body contouring needs.

But who is making this EMSzero product, and can we trust the product is safe or effective?

Recent News Flash

In early October, 2024, Guangzhou DAILUSHA Beauty Equipment Co., Ltd., the parent company of the EMSzero factory and trading company, was found guilty of infringing on the trademark “Thermage”. The Chinese municipal police were notified to inspect the factory and many counterfeit machines with the official “Thermage" trademark were found.

The History of EMSzero

Guangzhou DAILUSHA Beauty Equipment, the parent company of EMSzero, founded their factory in September 18th, 2015. The year prior on August 28th, 2014, their trading company was founded.  At that early time, EMSzero was not in existence yet.  Rather, the factory was selling other beauty machines.  Then already in 2016 the factory was inspected by police after someone made a complaint, and two company owners (brothers) went to jail in China for manufacturing and selling HIFU (high intensity focused ultrasound) machines, both illegally, without a permit.

After the brothers got out of prison in 2019, the EMSzero brand was born.  The brothers also implemented a policy, which was to strictly not allow any visitors to enter the factory for inspection under any circumstances.

Additionally, their trading company has been divided into more than 100 sub companies and relocated 1000km far away from factory in order to evade legal scrutiny.

On a positive note, the EMSzero brand itself has not brought the company any legal fines or jail sentences, not yet at least.  However, the factory has been making other machines in addition to EMSzero, and those have been causing problems.  Imitation Alma lasers is only one example.

In 2021, Guangzhou DAILUSHA was found guilty of infringing on the trademarks of Ulthera, Inc. (a US company which has a Chinese company as well) and ordered to pay $306,801.22.

And, as mentioned above, in early October 2024, Guangzhou DAILUSHA was found guilty of infringing on the trademark “Thermage”, owned Solta Medical (a US company which has a Chinese company as well)  following a surprise factory inspection by local police.

The new (proxy) owner’s financial accounts were not able to be verified, resulting in another prison sentence of 1-3 years.  This owner has been apprehended by police more than 3 times over the past 4 years, 2 times of which ended in a prison sentence of more than one year because of the law enforcement officers’ inability to verify any enforceable property.

Note that Guangzhou DAILUSHA Beauty Equipment doesn’t just repeatedly infringe on foreign company’s trademarks, they also infringe in Chinese companies’ trademarks. For example, in December 2021 Guangzhou DAILUSHA was ordered to pay 150,000rmb to Shenzhen Mingnuo Meiye Technology Co. as the punishment both for directly copying the technology of the Meiye Technology’s HIFU machines and producing what is considered especially dangerous technology without a permit.

They are notorious within China.  Based on the above historical data, the parent company and owners of EMSzero could be considered highly suspicious, at best.

Comparing the Technology of EMSculpt and EMSzero

So now that the credibility and transparency of EMSzero’s factory and owners have been washed down the drain, should we still consider buying and using their EMSzero machines ?

MShape Beauty’s opinion is we don’t recommend.  We won’t say the machine is 100% bad, but the construction is rather rough, and the quality is a low (often needs repair within 6 months, after light use) and the most concerning point is we can’t visit their factory for inspection.

When it comes to the effectiveness of EMSculpt vs EMSzero, the scientific evidence paints a complex picture. EMSculpt has been extensively studied and has a well-documented track record of delivering measurable results in terms of muscle toning, fat reduction, and overall body contouring. The technology behind EMSculpt has been rigorously tested and proven to be safe and effective, with numerous clinical studies and peer-reviewed publications to support its efficacy.

On the other hand, the research surrounding EMSzero is extremely limited. While the price of EMSzero may seem attractive, if it’s not safe or effective, do we want to take the risk?

The limited studies that have been conducted on EMSzero have been small in scale and only by our company.  They have not undergone the same level of scrutiny as the research on EMSculpt or EMShape Neo.  The lack of comprehensive scientific evidence makes it difficult to recommend it as a reliable alternative to the well-established EMSculpt or EMShape Neo.

Conclusion

In the ongoing debate between EMSculpt and EMSzero, the scientific evidence clearly favors the more well-established EMSculpt and EMShape Neo technologies.  While EMSzero may be cheap, the fact that the factory is closed to the public and the company and owners are notorious for trademark infringement and selling devices illegally, makes it a riskier choice for those seeking reliable non-invasive body contouring solutions.

If you're considering a non-invasive aesthetic treatment, it's essential to work with a trusted provider like MShape Beauty, who can guide you through the available options and help you make an informed decision that aligns with your individual goals and needs.
